First, always know you can email me, if you have any questions or issues. Prof. R.
Part 2B: The recorded presentation is 50% of your presentation grade.
Part 3: The peer review(s) (only during spring and fall semesters) is/are 15% of your presentation grade. If you do not submit the recorded presentation, you are not allowed to participate in the peer reviews.
————————————-
1. You need to email me who you are doing. A person is not allowed to be used twice… So, if you want to do this presentation on a specific woman, the first person who emails me her name gets the presentation topic.
2. After you have received approval regarding the person, you must research her (see below) and then do the presentation. For directions, please read below.
3.After you have researched, created the PowerPoint and recorded your presentation, you must upload the recorded presentation to this folder.
A. The presentation needs to look like my e-lessons. I need to hear your voice, see your image and see the PowerPoint slides in the presentation at the same time. So, the PowerPoint as well as yourself need to be visible.
B. I recommend Screencast-o-matic via YouTube. Again, see below for instructions.
C. The presentation needs to be at least 10 minutes.
4. Only after you uploaded your presentation and the due date has passed, you will you be required to do a peer review on two classmate’s presentation. I will assign the peer reviews.
5. Lastly, you also need to upload the PowerPoint Presentation, which you already created, to a separate folder. This second folder is in the same module and called "Submit PowerPoint Presentation Here".
Please remember this is not a paper, but a researched presentation.

Detailed Instructions:
Please research an historical woman, who changed the lives of females. This woman needed to have done or is doing something that is big. HOWEVER, they do not need to be well known. I am not saying they need to be famous because big things can and are often done by unknown women… This is based on your decision, but she needed or needs to show a desire for change in the lives of women.
Everyone needs to submit your recorded presentation here and the powerpoint document in the other provided folder in this same module. I will not accept anything through email.
The presentation must contain:
1. Each person needs to choose a woman and after you have received approval research her.
2. Then please tell me:
A. About her, where she lived, when she lived and so on…
B. Tell me what she did. I need details.
C. Tell me if she influenced more than women… (male/transexual/asexual: adult/adolescent/young children)
D. Tell me how she created a better life for women and others. She needed to create a difference in today’s world or in the time-period which she lived.
E. Tell me how you feel about her… Your reaction…
F. Tell me how the world/culture around her perceived her
a. *At the time
b. *What about now… is it different?
G. You must make the presentation look good. I need pictures and/or anything that will make the presentation look visually appealing.
H. It must be at least 10 minutes but no more than 15 minutes.
*APA is required: You need in-text APA citations (Name, year) on each slide. Even if you put the information into your own words, you still need to use an APA citations.
**IMPORTANT: Always ask yourself, would a 10 year old know this? If not, find out where you learned it and cite that reference. If you do not know or are on the fence, find where you learned it and cite that reference anyway. It is better to be safe than sorry.
*You must incorporate an APA title and APA reference page for this presentation.
*You must collect research on the individual. You are allowed to use any books and research articles from MCC Library.
*Winter/Summer/online shorted classes are allowed to use online sources, so please know you are allowed to use .org only websites and you must email me for approvals (no .com, .net, or .edu). No online encyclopedias are allowed.
**All 15 week/ Face-to-face classes: You are NOTallowed to use any websites (no .com, .net, or .edu) However, if you find a .org, which you feel is an exception, you must email me for approval. No online encyclopedias are allowed. If you include a website and I did not approve it, your grade will drop.
**Please do not use Wikipedia as a reference. It is a .com and not an appropriate source of information.
**If you have any questions about a website or source, always email me…
If you are going to use the online MCC library for any research articles and do not know how, please watch the following e-lessons:

The format of the presentations is as follows:
~First slide: Title page: your name and the overall title of the presentation.
~Second slide: Introduce the woman. Who is she? Provide a picture of the person.
~Third – ?: Answer all of the required question and provide all of above information.
~Second to last slide: You must tell me why you chose this woman for your presentation.
~Last slide is the reference page for the entire presentation. This reference page needs to be in APA formatting. No exceptions. If you have an APA in-text citation you must have a reference for it. If you have a reference, you must have an accompanying APA in-text citation in your presentation.
***Also, please watch the "How to APA" e-lessons, they will help immensely!***

How to record your presentation:
A. You can use Canvas Studio or any online program (I recommend Screencast-o-matic), with your computer that has a web camera device to record your presentation. I have also provided a link to a free recording program, so please see the next section. The video must be one of the following: MP4, .MOV, or a YouTube link (again, see below). If you want to ask about another file, please email me…
B. You must be in the video (we must be able to see you) in the presentation. For an example, it must look like my e-lessons for each of the chapter topics.
C. You must present the information thoroughly, clearly, loud enough and concisely.
D. I, as well as your classmates, who are the reviewers, must be able to see the presentation as well as see and hear you.
E. The presentation must be at least 10 minutes long and no longer than 15 minutes.
Whichever program you use: Studio or the direct website, it is the same program. Studio uses Screencast-o-matic to record. They are both free!
Canvas Studio:
The following link will provide you with the downloading, initial use, recording, saving, knowing where your video is saved, and sharing your video in Canvas Studio, if you do not know how to use it:
Direct to Screencast-o-matic website:
The following link is the direct online recording program, which you can use and it is free:
1. You do not have to buy this product, but the free version leaves a stamp on your recording.
2. This free version also only provides you with 15 minutes of recording time, which is more than enough for this presentation…
3. You need to download the recorder. select both webcam and the screen recording, and then click on the start button.
4. You can pause and start again, re-record as many times as you want, and you can delete a section or sections of the video, if you want to edit it. However, editing in the free software only allows you to do it before it is finalized.
5. You are also not able to delete a section in between other sections. You will see what I mean…
6. The video, only after it is recorded:
a. Can be given a title
b. Is provided a destination to save it to: I recommend YouTube. If you link from Google Drive, I will not be able to see it, nor will I sign in to get it.
c. FYI: the encoding and uploading process can take some time, so please do not procrastinate on getting the video done. You may miss the deadline by just waiting for the video to finish. Downloading this video file to your computer will take just as long as YouTube.
d. This link will bring you to an explanation on how to use Screencast-o-matic:

PART 3 PEER REVIEW (Only for Spring and Fall semesters)
How to and the Criteria for the Peer Review:
A. Once the Peer Review is open, please click and follow this provided link for step-by-step information on how to complete your reviews: Please see below for other information regarding the Peer Review requirements…
a. How do I complete a Peer Review?:
c. What is included in a peer review? How do you write one?
b. Completing a Peer Review Video?:
- Once I receive all of the videos, which will happen by the due date and time, I will reopen this same folder, for only those who submitted a presentation, so you are able to submit your peer reviews.
- A. I will randomly assign two classmates to each of you, so you can review their uploaded video.
B. Please know that some of you may receive three reviews for your presentations, even though each of you are only required to complete two.
C. Please be aware that these reviews are not going to be simple. They are not just an agreement or an "I like it" comment.
Please see below:
a. I will randomly select two classmates to review each presentation. The presentations will not be open to everyone, but only to the reviewers.
b. You will probably need to watch the videos more than once and that is fine. You need to know the information on the presentation to provide a proper review.
c. This review needs to:
I. Be constructive
II. Add to the presentation and information. You can use the textbook or other sources to help with your review.
III. It will describe good points as well as bad points of the presentation. What did the student do well, however also what did he or she miss or do wrong?
IV. I do not want any rudeness. This is only constructive and will help for all future presentations.
V. Please know you can say that you like the chosen person/presentation and I will not reduce points. However, it needs to be more than just that.
d. A good review should be at least three paragraphs. I am not asking you to write a five page paper for each classmate. You need to react to the video. Was the speaker speaking clear? Was he or she in the video? Was the topic thoroughly explained. How long was the presentation? Did you know more about this female than you did before watching the video? If you know about the person and the speaker left out a very important part of the female’s life, you can also include this in your review. - You will need to use the textbook and (if needed) other sources to support your review and stance in the peer review. No shady references can be used to support your review.
- Also, please review the references in each presentation. You need to discuss if the presenter met this same requirement for the presentation.
- The outside sources must be cited and referenced in your review… APA in-text citations and references must be present, however the references may not be able to be indented, so do not worry about that, but all other formatting must be correct. Please watch the "How to APA" e-lessons.
- Please be aware that just agreeing with the information will get you a zero for your grade on this part of the project.
- If you have any questions regarding the steps, please read over the link and watch the video, which are at the top of this peer review section, to help you understand them…
————————————-
****VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW*****
~These reviews are not anonymous…
~In addition, any rude interactions will result in a zero for the entire presentation. This goes for whoever was being rude, either the presenter, the reviewer or both.
~Lastly, you are not allowed to email it to me. It must be uploaded to this Canvas folder before the due date and time… Please see the schedule under the "Very Important Module" for details.
I hope this helps and if you have any questions or issues, please email me… Prof. R.
