This project will be ongoing lasting about 8 weeks before producing a final project which will be due in Week 15. It will require you to listen to the Reveal Podcast of “American Rehab” each week and take notes outlining your critical assessments on whether you agree/disagree with the content and your rationale for believing such. You will also examine how it aligns within the realms of sociology as it relates to stratified outcomes and how it aligns (or does not align) with the Human Rights document and the framework for sustainable human security. As the weeks progress and we discuss more sociological content, you will start to critically analyze the podcast material as it relates to the topics being discussed in class. Your final project will be a collaboration of your personal feelings, critical assessments of how the subject matter correlates to sociology. It is important that you reflect critical thinking in your analysis and how it relates to sociology. Your final paper will be a reflection of “applied sociology”, which entails being “solution-based” within your analysis. Focus on 3-5 main topics in the podcast that align with sociology and Human Rights and determine what can be implemented to produce more positive and sustainable outcomes for all individuals. One essential issue to focus on is the framework for sustainable human security. Minimum of 5 pages.
