1. Look at the list of common operating system tasks in Section 6.4.1. Which of these tasks have you performed in the past several weeks, and how did you perform them?
2. In the course of a typical week, what kinds of computer networks do you use? How many different kinds can you now recognize? How aware have you been of differences in these networks, or do they all create a similar virtual environment? Imagine the next new innovation in network technology—what would it look like and what could it do?
3. Do you believe that “hackers” who do things like expose the identity of rapists are White hats or Black hats? Regardless of the law, do you feel they are being ethical? Are they being moral? Is it right for them to be sentenced to a longer jail term than the individuals they uncovered?
