The following instructions below must align with the attached document (the Chapter 1 draft of the dissertation).
INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHAPTER 3 DRAFT:

 

1) Introductory Remarks: The reader is adequately oriented to the topic areas covered.  Anoutline of the logical flow of the chapter is presented.

All major themes/concepts are introduced.

 

2)Research Methodology and Design: Describes how the research method and design are aligned with the studyproblem, purpose, and research questions.

Uses scholarly support to describe how the design choiceis consistent with the research method, and alternate choices are discussed. For Qualitative Studies:Describes the study phenomenon, boundaries of case(s) and/or constructsexplored.

 

3)Population and Sample: Provides a description of the target population and the relation to thelarger population.

Inclusion/exclusion criteria for selecting participants(sample) of the study are noted.

4)Materials/Instrumentation: For QualitativeStudies:  (e.g., observationchecklists/protocols, interview or focus group discussionHandbooks). Describes process for conducting an expert review ofinstruments (e.g., provides justification of reviewers being credible reviewers may include, but not limited to NCU dissertation team members,professional colleagues, peers, or non-research participants representative ofthe greater population); describes use of a field test if practicing theadministration of the instruments is warranted.

 

5)Procedures: Describesthe procedures to conduct the study in enough detail to practically replicatethe study, including participant recruitment and notification, and informedconsent. IRB ethical practices are noted.

 

6)Data Collection and Analysis: For QualitativeStudies: Identifies the coding process of datalinked to RQs. Describes the transcription of data, the software used fortextual analysis (e.g., Nivo, DeDoose), and describes manual analysis byresearcher. Describes the use of a member check to validate data collected.

 

7)Assumptions/Limitations/ Delimitations: For QualitativeStudies: Includes key elements such as, but notlimited to threats to credibility, trustworthiness, and transferability.

 

8)Ethical Assurances: Describes compliance with the standards to conduct research asappropriate to the proposed research design and aligned to IRB requirements.

9)Summary: Chapterconcludes with an organized summary of key points discussed/presented in theChapter.
