Argumentative Speech

Within this unit, we discussed how to make an argument strong using strategies such as including supporting evidence and visual aids. This speech will apply these skills to a speech you will present.

Go back and review all of the characteristics of an argumentative speech, and then decide on a topic. Your topic should be something you know well and are passionate about. Below are a few examples of topics:

why a certain skill is necessary to be successful in your career field or in a hobby of your choice,
why going back to school is important and helps self-growth, and
why a particular charity should be supported.
You are not limited to the topics above, but please keep in mind that your topic should be appropriate for a class setting.

Once you have chosen your topic, consider how you will support your argument. You are required to create a minimum of one supporting aid to include as a part of your presentation. Supporting aids can include visual items such as charts or graphs.
