We’ve been talking about visual literacy. If you think about text literacy, it’s a good comparison. If I am illiterate, I can’t make out what the words say- it just looks like squiggles on the page. If I am semi-literate, I can make out the words. But if I am literate, I can easily read the words and tell what they mean.
