• I. After finishing all of your readings, hand-outs, viewing the videos;  in 1-2 short paragraphs  please define:

  1) What is Human Services  and Why Is Human Services Needed?

  2) Micro Level

  3) Mezzo Level

  4) Macro Level

  II. View all of the video clips within the modules and view the clip from the movie “Precious” in the content area. What are your reflections and thoughts about the clip?

  III.  Students will visit the websites for the North American Association for Human Services (www.nationalhumanservices.org) and the Council for Human Service Education (http://www.cshse.org/), navigating through both sites, discuss the scope and purpose of the human services professions, including its history, goals, ethical foundation, educational standards, services and other activities. Students will then discuss their impressions and insights of the information on these websites, with a particular focus on your own career aspirations.

  IV.  Reflect on a crisis either you or someone you know well experienced, and evaluate their internal and external experience from an ecological systems theory perspective (find in chapter 1). Why is it important to view human struggles from this perspective?

  5. After reading  the article by Phylis Day  in “content” area on blackboard called “History of Social Welfare”,  what is your take on Social Welfare Institutions? (you can add this response under your chapter 2 assignment ).
