The Golden Rule
Read Luke 6:27-31, also known as the Golden Rule. Now consider the 3 major principles of total quality: Customer Focus, Participation and Teamwork, and Continuous Improvement and Learning. Write a short essay that explains possible ways in which a global operations manager could connect the Golden Rule concepts to the 3 major principles of total quality.
Reflection
When I was growing up, I was raised on a physical principal regarding the golden rule. I was taught that the Golden Rule meant that the people with the gold make and sometimes break all of the rules. However, through my own trials I have established a better set of principles that are a lot less pessimistic. Especially when it was this year I discovered that the actual Golden Rule treat others as you would like them to treat you was literally from the bible. I understood it has a Biblical foundation. But I didnt know it was more than something my grandma would just say when I was little and not being kind in an outward moment. (Luke 6:27-31)

According to out textbook on pages 229-231 the golden rule approach to management is covered by principles of Total Quality Management, also referred to as TQM. TQM establishes that quality begins and ends at the top of the management hierarchy. Satterlee, B. (2018) This has really started and reinforced the focus, that the culture of any organization is shaped by the actions and behaviors of leadership. Hopefully you have never had to work in a toxic environment, or never will. But I can assure you that if you have an angry boss who brings that attitude to work, it becomes a rough day for everyone. How management treats the internal members of an organization has cascaded to how the frontline members deal with customers to the organization. Case and point, when have you ever seen an employee at a Chick-Fil-A have a bad day and yell at a customer, nope everything they do is their pleasure. This is a product of TQM.
