BSBWRT401: Assessment 3

What you have to do

In this assessment you are required to prepare a portfolio of tasks that will demonstrate your skills and knowledge of writing complex documents.

 

There are four (4) tasks to complete. These are:

Task 1 Business document – final
Task 2 Report – final
Task 3 Instruction document – plan, draft and final
Task 4 Short answer question

 

To complete your assessment, you will need the following documents (located in the learning resources zip file):

  • Review the Company policies and procedures document to ensure that your documents meet organisational requirements.
  • complete the Plan and draft document template ( Document_plan_and_drafting_template.docx ) for task 3.

 

Plagiarism guidelines

You must not use any existing business documents from a workplace for this assessment. All documents must be your own creation and written using your own words.

 

 

 

 

Task 1 – Business document

 

 

You have been appointed to the role of Office Team Leader for a new real estate agency called Flounder and Associates. The owner is Fred Flounder, he has over 20 year’s real estate experience.

 

The business details are as follows: Flounder and Associates, ABN 01 234 567 890,          255 Pentworth Street, Strathfield NSW 2135, phone: 02 97XXXXXX, email: [email protected], website: www.flounderandassociates.com.au

 

Fred has asked you to select an appropriate business document format and write a draft on his behalf to be sent to local residents, inviting them to the grand opening of the real estate agency. It should include the following:

  • notification of grand opening day and time
  • overview of the services provided by the agency
  • staff profiles
  • grand opening offers

 

 

Review the feedback you have received from your teacher on your plan and draft for the business document in Assessment 2.  Filename – assignment2task1.docx

 

Write the final business document, incorporating teacher feedback and making any necessary changes.

  • Good overview of the structure and content.
  • Good start on your draft document And it contains all the required information.
  • The title should include the text “Real Estate Agency” after the company name, the reader should be easily able to identify what the business does.
  • Use formatting features to increase the prominence of the date & time of the grand opening as well as the grand opening offer – these need to stand out.

Task 2 – Report

Fred is very keen to open another Flounder and Associates office within 12 months with his business associate Peter Cohen. The new office can be located anywhere within Australia as Peter is very happy to relocate.

 

They are unsure of the best location for the next office and have asked you to prepare an informal report on possible locations for the new venture.

 

You are required to use these two suburbs (Hornsby NSW 2077 & Thornleigh NSW 2120), conducting research and collecting information on the following for both suburbs:

 

*Suburb profile (e.g. demographics – age, income, dwelling types)

*Competition (e.g. other real estate agents located within the area)

*Sales Data (e.g. number of properties sold and available for sale, property price ranges)

*Office Location (possible locations for the new office)

 

Investigate and compare the two suburbs, but only recommend one to Fred and Peter as the preferred location for the new office.

 

You must reference all research.

Where possible it is a good idea to include some graphics as well – graphs, charts, tables to display the data. You will need to provide explanatory text for your graphs and tables – you must explain very clearly what the data in it means, and why it is relevant.

Task 3 – Instruction document

You are required to write an instruction document for use in the Flounder and Associates workplace. Select one of the following scenarios:

 

  1. Flounder and Associates employees are encouraged to save their work in at least two locations. Create an instruction document that employees can follow when saving a copy of their files to a USB drive.

 

 OR

 

  1. Flounder and Associates employees are encouraged to create folders on their computer to organise their work. Create an instruction document for creating and naming a new folder for an employee who is working on rental listings.

 

 

This task should provide a step by step set of instructions that are clear and easy to follow. You must include images or screen shots that help explain the steps.

 

 

  1. Before you can write the instruction document, you need to plan and draft your document. You need to use the Plan and draft document template docx

 

  1. Obtain feedback on your completed template from another person (e.g. manager, work colleague, family member or friend). Review the feedback you have received and provide a written summary.

 

  1. Write the final instruction document, incorporating the feedback and making any necessary changes.

Note: For this task you are required to submit the following for marking:

  1. completed plan and draft template
  2. summary of feedback you received on your plan and draft
  3. final instruction document

 

 

 

Task 4 – Short answer question

 

Review the instruction document that you created in Task 3. Identify three (3) formatting features (such as use of bullet points, borders) and/or styles that you have used and explain how they have impacted on your document’s presentation and readability. Your response should be approximately half a page.
