Anne Moody’s Coming of Age in Mississippi chronicles her youth and early adulthood at a time
when race relations in the United States were extremely turbulent. Her book thus constitutes a
primary source for the post-World War II period. After reading and carefully considering
Moody’s book, address the following points in a well-constructed paper. That means it should
include a general introduction and a summary conclusion.
• Moody mentions on many occasions that Southern blacks her age are different from the
older generations. Discuss these generational differences as fully as you and explain how
they affected the civil rights movement.
• How does Moody’s experience in the civil rights movement complement/deviate from
