Project Management Institute (PMI) is the leading certification body for project managers with a guide to project management and an array of Project Management Certifications that are highly valued in industry. According to the PMBOK Guide (PMI, 2013), a project charter is a formal document that establishes the authority to begin a project and gives the project manager the authority to allocate resources including material, technology, and personnel, to implement project activities and deliverables. Typically, there are two major inputs to the charter. The first comes from the Project Sponsor, key stakeholder, and includes business agreement, business case, and project statement of work. The second is organizational in nature and includes organizational process assets and organizational environmental factors. For this assignment, you will create a Project Charter and present it as part of your Signature Assignment. The Project Charter should include:
- Business Need, Visions, Mission, Values
- Project Goals and Objectives
- Project Deliverables, Timeline, and Cost
- Implementation Plan with Key Milestones
- Project roles and responsibilities
- Change Management Process
- Signatures for signoff
