Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the

and a reference list in Arden University (AU) Harvard format. You should address all
the elements of the assignment task listed below. Please note that tutors will use the

There are TWO questions set for this assignment. The case scenario below must be

About 40,000 nursing posts are now vacant in the NHS in England as the service
heads for the worst recruitment crisis in its history, according to new official data.
Responses to Freedom of Information requests submitted to trusts by the Royal
College of Nursing (RCN) show that one in nine posts are now unfilled – double the
level in 2013.
Data obtained by the RCN also suggests that fewer care providers are now
employing registered nurses, raising new fears over patient safety. It is believed by
many that the government policy of capping pay increases at 1% a year was also
driving nurses out of the profession. More so, the Tory government’s approach to
BREXIT was also adding to the recruitment difficulties. In fact, some 7% of nurses
and health visitors – that is, about 22,000 – majority of who are from the European
Union (EU) are said to have signalled their intention to leave or have already left
Britain since the BREXIT vote. Many believe that the reason for this is because of
the government’s failure to guarantee the EU citizens complete rights rather than a
settled status.
