Begin with a personal reflections by answering the following questions.

• What agent of socialization has had the most impact on you in your life? Why? Give examples. Use specific events or experiences in your life as examples.

Reflect on the videos above.

• • Compare and contrast the two cases of feral children.  What are the similarities and differences in the two cases?  Use specific examples.
  • Consider some of the theories of socialization you have learned about in this module.  Apply one or more of these theories to the cases of Genie and Oxana.
  • Evaluate the lack of socialization Genie experienced and the socialization by animals that Oxana experienced. Connect this idea to the ‘Nature vs. Nurture’  debate.
  • Despite the severe damage that can be done to a child by lack of socialization and social interaction, do you think that given the right circumstances, a child like Genie or Oxana can become productive members of society? Explain your answer in detail. Be sure to back up your opinion with scholarly sources.
