That the climate is changing is pretty much settled though there remains disagreement on exactly what the cause of climate change is. is it human caused or is it a natural cycle, or maybe both!
Regardless, countries have come together at Kyoto and Paris to try create a cooperative framework for dealing with climate change.
Recall from the chapter on political science that the international system is anarchic. Each state is sovereign and there is no law that compels states to act against their perceived interests. As Garret Hardin pointed out years ago, crafting cooperative arrangements to solve problems when each participant continues to pursue their own self interest is difficult if not almost impossible. [Read the material under Lessons carefully]
After reading the chapter carefully I want you to craft an essay that explores the problems with international agreements of climate change. Be sure to directly address the Kyoto agreement and the Paris agreement in your response. What does Hardin say about the problems with collective action.
