Multivariate Mapping
Earlier in the course, we discussed the use of symbols. Symbols are another feature that allow you to easily compare multiple variables. The same is true when using colors on maps. Some maps might have graphs or point symbols, while others might utilize colors for comparison. Maps are not limited to just two variables. However, multiple variables should only be used on one map if there is a relation between the variables.
With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 3 an evaluation of possibilities of multivariate mapping that relates to your field of interest. Then, discuss why cartographyâ€s communication focus limits the number of variables that can be mapped in a single layout. Provide at least two examples.
My field of interest is Emergency Management, Anti-Terrorism, Homeland Security, International Humanitarian Aid.
