Assessment title: Education Needs Assessment Alignment with learning outcome(s): 2 Undertake a training needs analysis in their workplace 3 Analyse the results and identify the learning need required 4 Explain the principles of planning cost effective education programs 6 Explore principles used in designing program content 7 Design an education program related to the identified learning need Details of task: An education needs assessment (ENA) is the systematic and purposeful collection and synthesis of data, used to identify patterns, variances and gaps in knowledge and/or skills. Collection of this data allows health professions educators to determine three main factors: where learners are now in relation to the desired learning outcome; where learners need to be; and what educational approaches would be effective in bridging that gap. An ENA is the first step in developing an authentic, meaningful and targeted program or curriculum. The aim of this assessment task is to develop and conduct an ENA in your workplace, with the intention of collecting data to inform a future program of education. You are required to undertake an ENA by selecting and implementing an assessment tool in your place of work. You will be required to analyse the data collected to enable the identification of an education gap. Finally, you should develop an outline for an education program to address this gap. The ENA report should address the following: Background Utilize current literature to critically appraise the use of an ENA in relation to education program development; Provide an outline of the setting and population group for your ENA, linking the rationale for undertaking the ENA to the literature; Predict the educational gap you expect the ENA to uncover. Provide rationale for your prediction. Data Collection Summarize the selection and/or modification process for the ENA data collection tool used and provide rationale for your choice of tool; Discuss the implementation strategy of the ENA data collection tool in your workplace. Results Analyse and present the data collected from the ENA. Recommendations Based on the findings from your ENA, develop an outline for a proposed education program to address the gap uncovered by the ENA; Reflect on the similarities or differences in your predicted educational gap and the challenges/ successes encountered when undertaking the ENA Release date: 22/07/2019 Due date: Monday 16th September, 2019 at 5pm Word limit: 4000 words +/- 10% Value: 40% Presentation requirements: Size 12 font Arial or Times New Roman font with double spacing between lines Leave a 4 cm margin on the left side of the page Pages should be numbered and your ID number should be in the footer.
