Please answer four of the seven questions below.  Each question is worth 25 points. The final exam is worth 25 percent of your grade. Each answer should be 1 page maximum, double spaced, and 12 point font. Each question should be labeled with the corresponding number so that I know which question you are answering. Do not make me guess please! If you are using information from references (you should!) you need to cite your answers. No outside readings should be used, only those listed in your syllabus. Please list the references you cite at the end of the document. They must be cited in accordance with APA guidelines.

 Questions

1. Define physician assisted death. Use one of the core healthcare ethics principles discussed in class this semester to argue whether or not physician assisted death should be legal.

2. How does public health policy come into conflict with individual autonomy in the state of quarantine?  Give a specific example from our readings in your answer. 

3. Define brain death. Explain why brain death is challenging from a cultural sensitivity and ethics perspective?

4. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted many aspects of health care ethics. Pick two principles and explain their relevance within the context of the pandemic.

5. Non-maleficence and beneficence are guiding principles shared by research ethics and clinical ethics in healthcare. The Tuskegee Syphilis Study of Untreated Syphilis in the African American Male is a dramatic failure of research ethics. Choose either non-maleficence or beneficence, and explain how the Tuskegee study failed to meet that principle.   

6. The ethical concept of informed consent extends beyond legal documentation.  In this class we have studied many ways of improving the informed consent conversation. Choose one of those ways and describe how it can help in the story of Henrietta Lacks.
