Health Promotion Resources for Families

 

 

Instructions:

  1. IN CLASS GROUPS: Diagram the types of family relationships featured in popular television sitcoms or dramas. The identify the nursing interventions that support health promotion and disease prevention. Finally compare and contrast how of each may differ or be similar. (SLO #2)
  2. INDIVIDUAL & GROUP: After you have diagrammed the families. Look at your community and explore the available resources to meet the needs of those families. (SLO#3)
  3. INDIVIDUAL: Go out in the community and visit the resource identified in class. Spend at least 15 minutes there, talk with people, pick up informational materials, explore. (SLO4)
  4. Submit write up 2 pages.
    1. What resource did you choose to explore and why?
    2. What population or community does the resource serve?
    3. What is the mission of the resource?
    4. What services/resources do they provide?
    5. What did you do/learn while you were there?
    6. What are the strengths and barriers this organization has?
    7. How will this impact your professional nursing practice?
