“History of Voting Methods” Project Instructions
Using the textbook and other resources such as the internet and library, you will examine the topic of voting methods. After researching materials, address the following:
- Discuss the history of the Electoral College of the United States. Also, explain how it works.
- Discuss and explain the history of apportionment in the United States House of Representatives. Make sure to include information about the paradoxes of apportionment.
- Compare and contrast the voting paradoxes. Which one do you find the most disturbing and why?
- Compare and contrast the different apportionment plans. Which method do you think is best? Support your position with examples and facts. Also, show an example which shows the calculation of the standard divisor and standard quota.
- Compare and contrast the apportionment paradoxes. Which one of these do you find the most disturbing and why? Which one of these do you find the least disturbing and why?
