The paper should include your personal experience reading the play, and demonstrate a clear and deep understanding of what you have just read. Don’t get bogged down in plot details. Be truthful about your experience reading it! Offer examples from the play itself…ask yourself questions…and let the following prompts guide you:
- What is the play trying to say?
- How well was it done?
- Was it successful?
- Why was it or wasn’t it successful?
- What was the central conflict?
- How were the principles of Aristotle’s Poetics used?
- What did you learn about the playwright?
- Can you tell me about the creation of the play (history, first productions, critical reviews)?
- And why is this play considered important?
