The coursework component of UNI 3112 English for Academic Purposes will be assessed through TWO (2) different assignments. This assignment brief provides information related to Individual Assignment. This Individual Assignment requires you to write an article review.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
This project evaluates the following learning outcome:
CLO 2: Evaluate ideas and information using critical reading and writing strategies
PURPOSE
The goal of this assignment is to help students improve their critical reading skills. As they work individually, students are encouraged to explore numerous ideas and thoughts. When writing their article review, they are advised to pay attention to details and consider the influence of their message on the intended audience.
ASSIGNMENT TASK
ARTICLE REVIEW (30%)
1. You are to choose an article for your Article Review. The article chosen MUST be academic and related to your course of study.
· For example, if you are a business student, your theme for your ARTICLE REVIEW can be “Investing for the Future”. Or if you are a medical student, your theme could be “Preventive Care”.
Note: You are not allowed to choose topics related to sensitive issues e.g., race/ religion/ gender and politics.
2. The article may be chosen from established newspapers, established magazines, scholarly journals, reliable periodicals, official reports.
3. You MUST consult the lecturer for the article you have chosen for approval.
4. DO NOT cite Wikipedia.
5. Read the selected article carefully, identifying all main ideas and supporting details.
6. Using the main ideas and supporting details, prepare an article review. When writing the review, it is important that you get the following points across.
