For the final assignment, you will write a seven-page analytical paper. You will need to send me your topic via email for approval. We can examine possible topics of interest to you, and I can answer any questions you may have about the assignment. I would recommend thinking about what you would like to write about soon. The paper should conform to the Chicago Manual of Style. A link is provided for you to follow for proper formatting of footnotes and bibliography. It should be written in 12-point font, Times New Roman, and double-spaced. A rubric will be provided to you with guidelines as to what constitutes a quality paper. In addition, an analytical writing guide will be provided separately to assist in this assignment. The paper is due on Friday, December 17th.

For this assignment, you will select a specific event or public policy issue in the U.S. by incorporating principles we have studied and discussed in class and write an analytical paper on the issue of your choice.
Structure your papers along the following:
- An introduction.
- Identification of the issue.
- Background information.
- Supporting evidence or facts.
- A discussion of both sides of the issue.
Guidelines:
- The paper will be seven pages of content, excluding the bibliography and title page.
- The paper should have a title page, including your name, date, and course.
- The bibliography will include a minimum of five sources.
- Footnotes must conform to the Chicago Manual of Style.
- The paper should have a thesis statement. (Instructions on the thesis statement will be provided separately.)
