Unit VIII Final Project

Incident Action Plan: Final

You have completed five phases of the Incident Action Plan (IAP) and are now ending the IAP process. This assignment is the final submission. Refer to the FEMA Incident Action Planning Guide, specifically Ending Incident Action Planning.

In this assignment, you will prepare a well-organized and thoughtful summary/narrative consisting of two sections. In the first section, you will prepare a one-to-two page well-organized and thoughtful narrative for ending the IAP that will be an overall summary of the plan. This narrative should expand on what you have learned during the different phases so you can understand issues that exist within the emergency services and emergency management field.

Ending the IAP is the final phase of the operational period when there are no other operational periods and the response actions have ended. Include the following items in your narrative:

• the ending process, • no remaining threats, • recovery is in place, and • demobilization is in progress with continuity of operations.

The FEMA Incident Action Planning Guide (p. 42) will guide you in completing the final plan. You may want to reference Appendices A–E (pp. 43–59) to re-check all your forms.

Any information not provided in the background information such as agency organization representatives can be your organization’s personnel or another organization.

The second section will consist of one page in which you discuss the following issues:

• the impact and influence the future will have on emergency services and emergency management, and • the responsibility of emergency management administrators to continually strive to improve service to the public now and in the future.

To supplement your discussion and support your writing, you may use information from reputable, reliable journal articles, case studies, scholarly papers, and other sources that you feel are pertinent. All sources used, including the textbooks, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations in proper APA style.

In a second document, you will combine all five phases of the IAP into one document and submit as the IAP. The document must contain the following sections:

• a title page, • table of contents,

• all completed five phases of the IAP (the narrative for each unit first followed by the completed and corrected ICS forms • that were submitted for the five phases), • references page, and • appendices. (If you have any appendices they should follow the reference page and be identified in the table of contents. Appendices are only required if you did not have room on the ICS Form and needed more space to complete your form.)

Forms and narratives are attached.

CORRECTIONS

Phase 1 corrections (ICS Form201)

On the map, you needed to identify the area of the concern with the SARs; you just need to mark those areas of the operational periods (medical, staging, command post, evacuation, etc.).  These areas needed to be addressed on the map using symbols.  You gave great detail on the operational period and the incident action planning process.  It is important to be very detail in your IAP to build on each of these.  Remember the incident action planning process will be a way for you to plan and execute operations on any incident that may occur within the community provided in the scenario.

Phase 2 corrections (ICS Form 202)

On the form you need to check the forms included in the IAP in Section 6

Phase 4 corrections (ICS Forms, 204, 206, 207, 208, 209, and 210)

Some of your forms were not completely filled out, missing some information in the different sections.  Double check the sections for missing information.

Phase 5 Corrections

In this assignment you covered a thorough narrative for Phase 3 of the IAP that support the incident objectives and strategies for SARS. Your narrative focused on the purpose of the Incident Action Plan (IAP). It demonstrated thorough analysis resulting in novel insight with relevant and fully developed supporting ideas for the IAP.  Some errors with your in-text citations and references.
