Read the following case study regarding Eve.  You will find an example attachment of a biopsychosocial assessment.  Remember that when assessing clients we utilize an ecosystems perspective.  We look at the client’s biological, psychological, and social factors that impact their life through the systems that they are linked with as well.  It’s important to note that there are several versions of this type of assessment.  The agency that you become employed with may have their own that they require employees to use.  This is only an example for students to view to have a better indication of what areas are to be filled out to gather information when assessing a client.  Once you have completed the case study, complete your own assessment gathering the information from the case study.  You will NOT use the same form but simply use the following headings: BIOLOGICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, AND SOCIAL.  These are 3 of the main areas of a biopsychsocial.   Please write a description of each area and how it specifically impact’s Eve’s life under each heading.  This must be in paragraph form.  You will first identify the client: Eve and then focus on her as your client in the assessment.  Please read through your classmates once posted and add insight into 2 classmates findings.  To see the rubric regarding grading for this discussion board, please click on the 3 tabs in the right hand corner.  The 5 points saved for reference requirement will be utilized for responding to your classmates.

Eve lives in a small town. She has two children, a son,
Matt, who is 17 and has Crohns disease, and a
daughter, Joanne, who is 15. Eves mother died four
years ago, and her father, Geoff, lives close by. Geoff
has early stage vascular dementia and numerous
health problems relating to a heart attack he had two
years ago. Eve works part time in an administration
role at a local college. She has lost contact with her
friends and lost touch with her hobbies (swimming
and singing in a choir) because she has prioritized
her family.

Matt is at college studying for his college exams. He
is frustrated that his illness is interfering with
all aspects of his life. Joanne is becoming more
withdrawn and resentful as an increasing amount of
Eves time is taken up with other family members.
Geoff has started to neglect himself at home,
and is finding it more difficult to carry out daily
tasks. Following a social care assessment, he has
a befriending service stop by every week and a
homecare team each morning to conduct a wellness check and
supervise his medication, which
Eve sets up for them. The care agency has reported
that theres a possibility Geoff has been accessing his
medication and taking it. Geoff remains adamant that
he is fine, and with Eves support he can manage.

Eve is feeling stressed and isolated. She wants to
increase her working hours for financial reasons,
but is unable to as she needs to be available for
Geoff. Eve is having problems with sleeping and
feels generally run down, and recently has been
suffering from stomach pain and nausea. She says
that she feels withdrawn from normal life. She tried
attending a support group but found that listening to
others problems highlighted her own. Instead,
she sometimes uses an online forum at night when
everyone else is asleep.
