In Chapter 1, we learned about the Four Types of Word Parts.

Root: The root provides the basic meaning of the term.

Suffix: The suffix is at the end and “usually” but not always means the procedure, condition, disorder or disease.

Combining Vowel: The combining vowel is usually the letter “O” in medical terms.

Prefix: The prefix “usually” but not always indicates a location, time, number or status. The prefix always comes at the beginning of a word.

Hemat/O/Logy

Hemat = root

O = combining vowel

logy = suffix

al – Pertaining to

Provide five words of your choice and divide these words into the four-word parts (roots, combining forms, suffixes, and prefixes). After dividing each word into its word parts, define the meaning of each part of the word. In addition to sharing five different words, explain being able to break the words down into its separate parts is a useful skill.
