N322 – Health/Concern/Illness/Issue Education Pamphlet Assignment In this two part assignment consisting of the design and creation of a health education pamphlet (part 1) and an accompanying write-up (part 2). See below for detailed instructions on the creation of the pamphlet and write-up. Assignment Instructions: Part 1 (Pamphlet Design) The student will first prepare a one page pamphlet addressing a condition, health issue or concern, treatment, medication, symptom, screening issue, prevention approach, or health promotion strategy. The pamphlet is limited to one page both sides (8X11inches) and can be presented in any creative manner conceived by the student but must have 3 panels on each side(trifold). Step 1:Decide on a purpose and a specific topic, in this case, an information pamphlet on a healthcare concern/illness/issue designed specifically for a targeted audience. Students will need to do some research to complete the brochure (4 references at a minimum including at least one government report or document). Students will list their reference on the bottom of one panel in small but legible print. Step 2:Make a draft of a- six paneled pamphlet. There are three panels on each side of the paper. It can be folded many ways, but the six panels need to be planned out on a piece of notebook paper. Front Panel: This should have the title, name of the student, and basic information about the topic. A picture, clip art or small piece of artwork about the topic is a nice addition. Other Five Panels: Display information with subtitles, pictures, clip art, and designs. Students should decide what main information they want to display and tell about their topics. This information will them be prioritized and formatted to fit into the panels. Note:Many students want to place too much text or pictures on each panel. They key is to have no more than three sub topics per panel. One or two is usually the best. Also, students need to work on writing concisely so that there is some white space (area without text or pictures) on each panel. You need to consider this because it impacts the readability & presentation of the pamphlet. Step 3:Once the pamphlet has been planned out, students can begin working on their final product. If students are making the brochure on the computer, they can use Microsoft Word software. The paper can be set up on “landscape” and each side of the paper can be split into three panels by making three columns on each page. Students can then insert clip art, photos and scanned artwork into the panels of the pamphlet. This will take time to complete, so plan out your timeline carefully. As a reminder, please proof read and carefully review the pamphlet for spelling or formatting errors prior to submission. Assignment Instructions: Part 2 (Assignment Write-up; 6pages – not including title page and reference page) For the accompanying paper, the student will identify thetargeted population,the learning characteristics of that population, the context and purpose of the pamphlet the prevalence of the issue within the population and why it’s being targeted, the objective(s) for the learner who uses the pamphlet, and the sources (references) for the content of the pamphlet(these italicized statements are to be used as heading in the writing-up. The references for the pamphlet and write-up, must be credible sources, not including wikis, and include at least one reference that is a government report or document. The assignment will adhere to APA guidelines, including title page and all references
