  1. Read and review the video and reflect on the Downey and Sharrat approaches.  

  1. Reflect on the five components within your classroom asking Dr Sharratt’s five questions what will students responses be: What are you learning? How are you doing? How do you know? How can you improve? Where do you go for help? 

 

  1. What will you notice about teaching and learning in your school/classroom that you may not have noticed before?  

 

  1. How will students respond to your questions?

 

  1.  Which component will be the easiest to observe?  Which component will be most difficult?

 

  1.  What will you observe, hear, and learn that will inform your leadership going forward?  

 

  1. What are your next steps?  

  1.   Consider doing a learning walk in different classrooms. If you are unable to do the learning walk anticipate the opportunity to do the walk and respond to the following questions.

 

  1. Which component will be the easiest to observe?  Which component will be the most difficult to observe?

 

  1. Consider each of the five areas of focus.  Student Engagement, Curriculum Connections, Instructional Strategies, Student Work and Health and Safety.  Predict what you think you will see and hear for each area of focus during the learning walks. 

  2. What are your next steps?
