As seen throughout the chapter, organizations led the
fight to advance civil rights in Texas and across the
United States. Some of these organizations are well
known, such as the NAACP and the League of United
Latin American Citizens (LULAC). However, there are
others, including many new organizations. Look up
and discuss 2-3 organizations representing a
demographic of Texas (specifically your
demographic). Answer the following questions for
each:
Who are they?
Why did you pick them?
What is the current agenda of these organizations?
What have they accomplished?
What do they hope to accomplish?
Each of your 2-3 organizations should have at least a
2 paragraph write up (who, what, when, where and
why). You must cite your sources.
