One of the major challenges at Amazon is workload. Workload is what the employees are expected to do within a certain period. In the IT approaches, everyone is expected to deliver a certain project within a period of time. That at Amazon is a problem whereby some of the employees seem to have a lot of work than others. There are those that will be given short notices depending on the urgency of the issue. Its true there are some projects that are urgent and therefore the employees will be required to work within a short time. However, that should not always be the case. There are times the employees will be heard complaining that the management is giving them pressure to handle certain task and yet the period given is limited. Amazon has always had a lot of customers to serve and therefore cases of too much workload are common.

Solution

Amazon does not expect to reduce the number of customers they serve. Instead, they should look forward to ensuring that they give the best to their customers. With the increases demand from customers, the company should look for ways to enhance customer service and eradicate too much workload. They can employ more employees more so when the demand from the customers is too high. That gives everyone a chance to handle his or her work ion order and that will enhance effectiveness (Pyrko, 2017). The IT facilities available should eradicate the issues of too much workload and not giving the employees unnecessary pressures.

Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity is another challenge that affects Amazon. With the increased developments in the IT sector, there comes more loopholes to be sealed. Amazon has suffered several times cyber-attacks and this has seen the company lose trust from the customers. Cyber-attacks are on the rise and Amazon being a global company means that there are so many attackers targeting them. Cyberattacks are growing in size and sophistication. Amazon is on the limelight since they have a lot of customer details and the attackers target such companies (Rousseau, 2018). Data is a crucial factor and confidential. The attackers however are geared towards having the data so they can execute some of their attacks. Amazon has different customers from all walks of life and therefore they are on the limelight when it comes to cyberattacks. This has brought about numerous challenges in the IT management and its an issue that needs to be addressed within a short time to eradicate the possible at hand.

The IT management team at Amazon should ensure they secure their systems to avoid such issues of attacks. One of the ways to ensure they eradicate the issues of cyberattacks is by securing every system they have. This can be done by having antiviruses on their systems and carrying out tests that will help them identify the loopholes (Ivanova, 2019). Every system needs to have a specific team that is working to seal all the loopholes involved. With that, they will identify the problem and be in a position to address it.

Absence of clear direction

At Amazon there are different aspects or objectives that the company intends to achieve. Lack of direction is one of the challenges in every organization and so it is at Amazon. The company has invested a lot in terms of the technology they employ but there are certain things that they miss out. Lack of direction is one of the issues whereby the leaders are not always in-line with whatever they are supposed to do. It’s a global business and therefore it is expected there are different leaders at different levels. The leaders are however not sure of the direction to take based on the IT approaches in the business. The information technology department also has leaders but at times, they are not sure what to do and the steps to take. That comes as a challenge since the leaders do not know what approach to do more so when it comes to the objectives and how they should be achieved. Every business as Amazon does has outlined specific issues they plan to achieve. That however does not involve the specific direction that need to be followed. It means that the leaders at times are confused and that they may have challenged addressing the IT Management issues (Pyrko, 2017). For example, if Amazon intends to open up new stores in a certain region, they ought to do so in a certain way. However, if the direction that they should use is not known to them, it means there will be challenges witnessed. Amazon involves many activities that need to be completed to gain complete traction that is necessary to make the company successful. There are many functions that the company needs to take to ensure they are effective in the operations. For instance, when opening up the said additional stores, it will mean that the leaders will have to implement specific functions. With lack of direction however, its not always possible to accomplish the said tasks on time. There are times one of the parties will be done and yet the others are not through. 

Solution

To effectively handle such a problem, the best approach is to ensure that the leaders work as a team. In the technology approach, the leaders need to come up with ways that will ensure they are delivering the same issues in the same approach. Amazon should ensure that they give the best in terms of teamwork more so when it comes to the needs of the leaders. Leaders should not work as separate entities but as one team (Rousseau, 2018). This will enable them to carry out the projects in unison, which bring about company success.

Challenges when blending multiple personality’s into a cohesive and unified team

In IT management, there are different people that are involved and all of them have different personalities. They are however having different personalities and need to work as a team. Amazon has that challenge whereby they are not able to effectively blend these different personalities together (e Cunha, 2019). There are times the IT management team will work as different entities based on the personalities involved and their will to work as a team. Amazon`s IT management team sometimes fails to deliver what they are expected to because of their differences. This may be seen as a human resource problem but touches more on how the implementation process will be handled. It is possible to have the IT equipment in place and working but without teamwork from the human resources, it will not work effectively. That brings about failure on the IT management side enhanced by the division in human resources.

Solution

The above problem at Amazon should be taken seriously and the leadership should be willing to give their best. They should develop a culture whereby the teams are working to acknowledge their differences and at the same time understanding each other. The personalities of the employees will always be different. However, there is a need to come up with a way that the employees appreciate and acknowledge the differences (Tomasella, 2019). When the differences are known, the employees will easily blend as it helps one to know how well to treat the other person. The weaknesses in others will also be known and they will be treated in a way that everyone feels comfortable. By this, the IT management approach will be effective and Amazon will operate at its best.

Poor communication and feedback

Amazon as a business receives a lot of information from both the employees and the customers. This means that they need to have a plan whereby they will receive the feedback out of the effective communication. However, it is a challenge to the company whereby the have not effectively enhanced the communication process through the information technology department. It is possible to have a communication process breakdown and there is nothing to be done. IT department or the management process involves having a better way to communication as that gives one the chance to get the feedback and decide the best action. At Amazon, the communication approaches that are used are wanting. There are some of them, which are effective while others are not and will bring about miscommunication. Communication at Amazon occurs in different ways as it is in other companies. When IT is involved, it means the communication process should be better (Ivanova, 2019). However, the process is not always effective. There are certain miscommunications, which occur and some of them will bring about business failure. The information technology management should enhance the communication process. However, that is not the case at Amazon since the management has not outlined how well it should be handled.

 Though Amazon has been operating to make profits in the retail industry, there is a need to enhance the communication process through the IT department. One of the approaches is to educate the human resources on the approaches they should use when it comes to the communication approaches. It is possible that the employees are not much into the feedback after a communication process (Saltelli, 2018). There is a need therefore to ensure that education is enhanced on the best approaches when it comes to the communication process. Getting feedback should be paramount and therefore the communication process will be made complete.

Lack of IT awareness

At Amazon, the investment that has been on the information technology department is a lot. There are however some challenges that comes up whereby the employees are not sure of what the systems are for. They will therefore not be in a position to deliver regardless of the investments in the IT sectors (Urinov, 2020). There are times the IT facilities will be misused since there is no one to guide the employees on what they are supposed to do. The facilities may be effective but if they are not used in the right way, the approaches will not be effective.

Solution

Amazon needs to enhance the training process on how the IT facilities should be used. It seems that the education approach is something that the business should invest in. It is not always about investing without guiding the employees on what to do (e Cunha, 2019). Assuming that the guidance given to the employees is effective, it means that the IT management will be handled easily. The opportunities that the company will enjoy will also be paramount.

The IT management is attributed to numerous issues, which can bring about the success or failure of the business. It is possible to invest a lot in information technology but the benefits will not be seen. This is because of the approaches that the company uses. At Amazon, the problems have been identified and therefore handling them is easy. The management should ensure that everyone knowns about the objectives, and therefore define how well to handle the approaches. The IT management should be handled with seriousness as it means the failure or success of the business. There is a need to educate the employees on the best approaches when dealing with information technology (Ivanova, 2019). By that, the company will be able to operate effectively and therefore fetch the numerous benefits involved. It may take time but the approach will be beneficial in the end.
