Movie Analysis
PURPOSE: The purpose of this is to recognize and distinguish between the ten stages of relational development in Knapp and Vangelisti’s Ten-Stage Model of Relationships. The analysis must focus on the communication experiences that occur during each stage of coming together or coming apart.
PROCEDURE:
1. Choose a movie that illustrates at least five of the ten stages of relational development.
2. Discuss five stages of relational development using specific examples from the movie. Focus on the communication acts that occur in the examples. What is occurring in the communication acts to exemplify the specific stage?
3. Write an analysis of the movie in essay form.
4. Type a 2-3 page paper (12pt. font, double spaced)
5. Submit the paper by uploading the document in .doc format.
OUTCOME:
The final outcome of this assignment is a 2-3 page analysis of the selected movie. The paper should not be a synopsis of the movie. Specific stages and communication experiences must be discussed. Examples must be provided. The paper must be well organized and written with an introduction, body, and conclusion. Any sources used for the paper must be cited in MLA format. A works cited list must be provided.
