According to Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation Medicaid is the nations public health insurance program for people with low income. The Medicaid program covers 1in 5 Americans. Medicaid is the principal source of long-term care coverage for Americans. With the expansion of Medicaid, many parents and children are now eligible for medical insurance as of before in the pasted, but they are at risk of losing their coverages due to alternate plans. Most Medicaid enrollees lack access to other affordable health insurance because of income restrictions. Medicare is a federal health insurance program created in 1965 for people ages 65 and over regardless of income, medical history, or health status. Medicare plays a major role in providing health and financial security to 60 million older people and younger people with disabilities. I believe Congress should expand on Medicare coverage with new benefits and make it more eligible to more individuals. Congress can create new ideas to improve the program which would make the participant pay less on their Co-pays for prescriptions, surgery, and hospital stays.
One of my favorite bible verses is Jeremiah 30:17 For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord. When the Lord restores something or someone it is for the better for the future, life, and loved ones. When God made the promise to restoration it is forever. In my opinion, Congress can restore the Medicare program to be better for the elderly and the individuals who have a long-term disabilities. In this country, we have a lot of disabled individuals who need healthcare, and they are not covered, more than 25% have poor health and chronic conditions.
