Physical Activity Essay – be sure to discuss the data from your daily reports from Health360 in your assessment of the data. You are the Nutritionist and the data from Week 3 is your patient’s.

Even if you have NO “official” activity, this assessment is required, so consider how you will address this in the case of a client who is not active, though please note that we all have some level of activity even if we don’t go to a gym, etc. This week’s case essay, evaluate the level of activity, and if it’s low, address how to work at this area, what is recommended, why it is recommended, etc. Students are not scored on if/how they are active, but the demonstration of nutritional/wellness discussion and demonstration of knowledge of the concepts per the assigned readings.

1) Evaluation of case patient, what is their recommended physical activity based on age, sex, etc. How does patient compare to their target?

2) Compare values for each, of the 3 types of activity per our readings, with specific activities done or that could be done to address these; evaluate “none” by addressing ways we generally get something in throughout the day standing, walking to and from places, stairs, etc.

3) 30 minute/day guideline. What is the 30min/day guideline, what does it include? Why is this beneficial to the human body? Discuss the importance of exercising 30 minutes per day, even without a regular daily routine but via daily activities. (references)

4) Are there any specific recommendations for this client? Discuss patient’s goals: are they meeting this, if so how? if they do not meet this guideline, what are some ways to address it with specifics and/or overcoming barriers that keep them from achieving this target.

Then address Essay Weight section:

1) Explain the relationship between a healthy diet and water consumption with regard to activity. What’s the importance of healthy food and how does this relate to activity? (reference)

2) Discuss what foods are appropriate or best for those who are active. Connect diet/eating to healthy weight maintenance.

3) Discussion activity impact and water consumption. How should an active person address water consumption vs one who is not active? What is the water needed for? Address the physiology here.

4) What are 2 ways that a healthy weight can be determined for individuals that are used today? (references)

5) Energy Balance: What is energy balance? What 3 factors impact this? Discuss the patient’s EER and how they can use this to ensure energy balance. (reference from our readings)

6) Discuss 2 of the 4 factors that affect body weight (genetics, physiology, environment) from our readings.

7) Explain 2 of 3 options the patient can apply to lose weight healthfully or if they are at a healthy weight, how 2 of the 3 options ensure that they maintain that weight. (eat smart, move, address habits)
