PROPOSED MEMO.

To: Chief Executive Officer of Public health.

From: Alvaro Michael.

Date: 2nd December 2020.

Subject: Debate about social determinants of health.

I propose to inform you that it is wise to consider the social determinants of health because they greatly impact on health outcomes, especially for vulnerable populations. The key reason for writing this memo is to explain to you that factors such as environment, income level, and patient education should be considered when treatment and care are provided. They are the social determinants that have a huge impact on the health outcomes hence primary care providers like the nurse practitioners need to consider the social determinants of health because it facilitates comprehensive health care for the patients and families they are serving.

I will also like to take this opportunity to suggest to you the preventive measures that health workers need to undertake to prevent health inequities. This is because public health has a vital role to play in strengthening the action on promoting health equity through strongly considering social determinants. It is an unfortunate feature in American society where everybody enjoys the equal opportunity for good health. Although there has been an existence of universal health care in the United States, poor health has been disproportionately born by the disadvantaged groups in our society due to factors such as ethnicity, gender, geographical location, and socioeconomic status. For instance, there has been a significant difference in life expectancy to geographical regions with low incomes, which have the poorest health compared to those with high incomes. This has led to a decreased life expectancy and the existence of poorer health among the disadvantaged.

I am kindly requesting to consider the preventive measures to curb health inequalities because you possess the power to do so. I always believe that reducing health inequities between and within nations is social, ethical, and economic imperative The American public health sector should give before health equity; this is because the public health does not have the mandate to promote health equity and health, but it has a crucial role of reducing health inequities. Also, I will request to inform you that the African Americans and the elderly living in rural places in America have been greatly disadvantages due to the closure of 128 hospitals and an excessive number of patients due to the COVID19 pandemic.

Kindly allow me to recommend that public health infrastructures should be strengthened to support the effective delivery of public health services and to increase the economic collaboration inside the healthcare system and other sectors to attain health goals such as health equity. I will like to inform you that public health can reduce health inequities by integrating health equity into policy programs that collaborate with other sectors to reduce inequities. According to the evidence tabled, social inequality on public health and mortality is compelling. For instance, in America, the gradient between social class positions such as income, education, occupation, and death risk has been widely experienced. According to a survey, the rate of mortality has intensified due to social inequality.

Allow me to recommend that broad and inclusive research should be embraced to incorporate multi-level factors. Even though individual-level factors are very important, it is paramount to know that the population level which shapes health inequities. These population-level factors include community characteristics, residential discrimination, food policy, social and economic policy, among others; these factors are the ones which shows the proximal individual level that shapes the distribution or intersect with them. To eliminate health inequities, various determinants such as inclusive research things, etiological determinants should be embraced. A generalized strategy, including multi-level interventions, should be applied while focusing on some groups. I would like to recommend that a research plan should be embraced to incorporate multi-level forces that include social support, family, and individual. I would like to inform you that different scientific disciplines should be brought together, and partnerships should be created.

I will be pleased if innovative transdisciplinary research is developed to promote system science. This systems approach will be of a positive impact because health will be improved by considering the multiple elements involved in taking care of patients and the many factors that influence. Understanding the independent operation of this element and how they rely on each other as systems approach would be of great help in designing and integrating people, policies, processes, and public health to provide better health at a lower cost.  In this regard, I would like to notify you that the cultural environment attention, the community whereby the targeted people live, would optimize health status.

I will be grateful if you consider my proposal and going through the recommendation s that I have suggested because, as we all know, economic, cultural, and social factors are the major qualities of substantial inequalities in health. I wrote this proposal so that a share of good health could be achieved because health inequities are undesired and unjust. Health inequalities affect everyone and are detrimental to the community members, especially when there is an infectious disease outbreak. I would also urge you to understand that health inequalities are avoidable because they can be identified through policy options and interventions that are significant in reducing health inequalities because they are cost-effective.
