- PART 1: Brainstorm an idea for a business you might like to start. It can be related to your creative industry or completely unrelated. (Page 1) Specify your business vision, mission, and unique value proposition. (Page 2) Write out the market need for your business and the problem you help solve. Determine your target market and describe in detail your ideal customer. (Page 3 and 4) Conduct a market analysis and provide at least 3 examples of competitors to your business then conduct a S.W.O.T. analysis for your business to determine what makes your business better. (Page 5) Decide if this is a non-profit or for-profit/start-up and what the organizational structure is and where the base for operations should be. (Page 6 and 7) Determine your marketing strategy (how will you promote your business, attract customers/audience, and retain them). Showcase one innovative marketing idea (mockup a press release, design a logo, poster, flyer, or program, create a social media schedule or sample post(s) for a social media platform you plan to post on, etc.) that you plan to implement. (Page 8) Develop a financial plan. Include your budget and sales goals. You can break this down into expenses (how much it might cost to run your business) revenue (what streams of income you plan to have) and what your profit will be (the difference between your revenue and expenses).
