4 pages (plus your bibliography), double-spaced, 12-point standard font, 1-inch margins.

Cite 2 readings from class, in whichever citation style you prefer. You must include a bibliography.

Choose a specific example of technology and analyze this technology around two (2) key themes.

I will be looking to see how well you understand the concepts from our course, and how you apply them to analyze technology.

Remember that our course is about the Other, so that should be the focus of your analysis.

You should choose a technology that allows you to think about these issues. For example, if you choose deep-sea exploration, it will be quite difficult to relate back to our course themes; make it easy on yourself and choose a topic that allows you to explore the issues we have been discussing in a class all semester.

The majority of your paper should be your analysis around the Other, rather than just description.

Please be mindful not to include more than 1-2 paragraphs of description, historical information, or technical explanations of the technology.

For the final paper, you can either write a reflection paper or you can write about ethics. For both options, you should choose a specific example of technology to analyze. 

Reflection paper choose two key ideas or readings from class and reflect on what these ideas bring to the study of technology and the Other. Include an example of technology that illustrates these points. How do these ideas highlight different aspects of the technology or help us understand the Other? How have these ideas changed your thinking on the Other in technology? What do you think is important to consider around the Other when creating and evaluating technology? Do these ideas influence how we build and understand technology? In what ways? Your analysis and suggestions should be informed by our class discussions and readings.

Ethics paper choose an example of technology and think about the ethics and the Other in this technology: what possibilities does this technology offer? What ethical problems or issues does it present? Who will be most impacted by it? Is there potential bias in the technology, or in how it is used? And finally, what can we do about this? Your analysis and suggestions should be informed by our class discussions and readings.

Make a clear and well-organized argument about 2 issues from class, and use them to analyze this technology around the Other?
