In this unit, you learned about the roots of the Office of the Presidency, and how the Articles of Confederation did not include an Executive Branch. You also learned that the powers of the President expanded over the years, as the position became more significant to a growing nation. Finally, you learned about bureaucracies and the purpose they serve in the United States government. Now, you will put this background knowledge to use in completing your fourth project of the semester.

For this project, you will use what you learned to create a detailedpresentationof the Executive Branch and include text for each slide to cover the concepts as follows:

Your presentation will: 

  1. Give a brief description of the Executive Branch of the United States government. For example, who is included in this branch of government and what general powers does this branch hold? This should only be one slide and should be not less than 100 words.  This should be in paragraph format.
  2. List and describe the President’s seven “hats” or roles. This should be not less than 200 words. You should include ALL of these hats on one slide. They should be in bulleted, or outline, format.
  3. List and describe all positions included within the Presidential Establishment. This should be not less than 150 words in length. You should include ALL of these positions on one slide. They should be in bulleted, or outline, format.
  4. Name and describe one Federal Executive Department. Provide the official title of the department and explain what happens within this sector. This should not be less than 150 words, and should consist of one slide.  

 

Grading Checklist

  • Provide a header for each slide (i.e., ‘The Seven Hats of the President’).
  • This presentation should be not more than six slides in length (one for heading, one for description of Executive Branch, one for seven hats, one for Presidential Establishment, one for Federal Executive Department, one for works cited). Do not go beyond six slides in length.
  • You must use visual aids/pictures to enhance your presentation and to make it more engaging. A failure to include visual aids/pictures will result in a reduction of grade.
