Report
The purpose of this report is for you to gain experience in writing and applying the models and concepts taught in this class to a topic of interest to you.
The challenge is to organize your thoughts and the evidence from the literature in a coherent way and to support your arguments with real evidence that is gleaned from the appropriate literature. What is most critical to me in this assignment is that you cite appropriately and often and that your arguments and focus are logical and that your essay reveals some of the complexity of the topic.
All written assignments will be evaluated for both content and form. The report should start with an introduction in order to capture the reader’s interest and place the topic. If possible, add a review of the relevant literature. Next, the report will outline the key points, theoretical issues, trade patterns, or other issues surrounding the debate. This will be followed by a discussion of the findings or empirical evidence. The conclusion will summarize the report and point out directions for further work or related issues. At the end of the report, please include all the references used to support the discussion.
Topic Selection

The first step to write this report is to choose a topic. The topic can be quite general but must be related to the material we discussed in class. It can be about a historical event, an industry, about a trade policy, something on the news, or even about a country.
You are free to choose the topic of your choice. Some topic examples are presented below:
