Student Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, students should have developed:
1. An understanding of basic concepts of tissue engineering.
2. An ability to design scaffolds using synthetic/natural polymeric materials for tissue engineering.
3. Knowledge and understanding of the principles and use of state of the art techniques of tissue engineering, including bone, organ, nerve, skin and cartilage systems.
4. Professional communication skills through class presentation and final term paper. Course Requirements & Assessment
Students are required to submit 3 class presentation slides and one final project. Class presentation: Presentations should be prepared and presented in groups. Each group has 25 minutes to present and 5 minutes for Q&A. For each presentation, students need to choose one or two recently published journal papers related to applications of tissue engineering (bone, skin, organ, or cartilage). Presentations should include an introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and reference.
The final term paper will require students to delve more deeply into any specific topic covered in the course. The students are encouraged to discuss with the instructor about the topic of their final project.
