Objective: Gain an understanding of the various roles of the Project Manager.
Introduction: Project team development comprises various stages and techniques a project manager must understand and be able to apply with skills and tact. Not only building and forming project teams but also managing team challenges and opportunities. Additional roles the project manager must initiate and sustain are motivational while monitoring and delivering high performance.
Deliverables
The essay for this lesson is required to be a minimum of 750 words (excluding title and reference pages) that clearly demonstrate your understanding of the activity. Essays should have a clear introduction, thesis statement and conclusion, written in APA format (APAstyle.org). A minimum of three sources, at least two from the lesson, must be cited in-text and in the Reference list.
Activity Details Perform the following steps:
Step 1: Review the readings Review the readings as well as external resources from the Cline Library https://nau.edu/library and/or the Internet, books, journals, etc. Focus particularly on how they go about building a project team, challenges and opportunities, and team performance.
Step 2: Address the following Write an introductory paragraph about building a project team, the challenges team development can present, and motivating teams for maximum performance. Within the body of your paper, be sure to address the following: What are the stages of group development? What behaviors do project managers exhibit in each stage? Place yourself as part of a group project team (academic or professional) and identify one phase in the group development process and describe the specific elements that are important to this phase. For the conclusion paragraph state the primary responsibilities of a project manager when managing a project team. Summarize what you have learned about team development.
