Case Study #1

Topic: Covid-19 Vaccination
A preponderance of evidence suggests that the Covid-19 immunization is recommended to combat the coronavirus. Despite efforts to decrease access barriers and provide education, currently 70% of US adults (180.7 million) Americans age 18 years or older have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine (CDC, 2021). Vaccination rates continue to be lower among younger adults (CDC, 2021). Some patients and healthcare providers remain unvaccinated. Kirstie is among the nurses who have not yet Covid-19 vaccination. Kirstie is a 39 year-old licensed practical nurse who coordinates Covid-19 vaccinations at a federally subsidized clinic in Tennessee and is considering enrollment into the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program.
