Write a 10-page research paper on a topic of your choice; you may work on any aspect of gender and culture in relation to the texts we have read this semester. Try to focus on a topic or question that interests you and conduct research on the historical background of that topic.
Choice of topic: You may select a text that we have read and then study the historical context, such as infanticide in Marie de France’s Lais le Fresne. Or you might investigate the historical roles of medieval women(such as anchoress, trobaritz, prostitute etc). After conducting research on the historical context of these roles write paper in which you attempt to use that background to read the appropriate literary text (anchoress & Julian; the Wife of Bath’s comments on prostitution, etc). Or you might take a topic such as rape and write about several of the texts we have read in relation to the historical issues surrounding rape in medieval culture.
This class is a medieval literature. ENG 300.

What I want you to know:
1. Your each sentences should be supported logically.
2. There are so many editions the books, so Using the edition that penguin classics.
3. Sources to be cited must be scholarly. This is a really important to use scholarly sources. Do not use any sources just from Google.
4. Way to do historical information. For example, you can write what anchoress’ role was at that time historically.
This is a really big project. I recommend you can write about Julian of Norwich and Margery Kempe which are anchoress themes. You can focus their pilgrimages historically, mythical genetic, crucifixion, Christianity, revelation and Trinity. These are my class covered in class. Also you can add a content about Margery’s weeping. This instructor is a really strict and professional to catch plagiarism. Please let me know if you want to know more information.
One more thing the paper should include at least four citation.
