Final Project Bioethics
Instructions to prepare for the final project:
  1. This is an opportunity to dig into an ethical issue that you feel is important and/or interesting.
  2. Consider one issue that we addressed during the semester, or an issue related to bioethics, that is different than the issue that you considered for your mid-term exam.
  3. Research three or more sources in addition to the ones that we used in class (if you also use sources from class) about your issue.
    1. See the guidelines for appropriate sources below.
  4. You will do your research by yourself, without a partner.
  5. If you would like to, you can meet with the professor and potentially with other students to talk about your project.  You will receive extra credit for doing so.  You can also upload the assignment without meeting.
  6. If you would like to meet, please email me.
When you prepare your Word document for upload, do the following:
  1. Describe the topic that you chose to research.
  2. Make your 3 sources follow the guidelines provided below.
  3. Summarize important information from each of your sources, and not just from one or a few of those sources.
  4. Find at least two descriptive stories/examples of how your issue plays out in the real day to day world and be prepared to tell those two stories with details.
    1. Make sure that the two descriptive stories that you tell are NOT taken from sources that we already used in class, but are taken instead from the three new sources that you find.
  5. Describe why the issue is personally important to you.
  6. Describe why the issue is important to the wider global community.
  7. Your Word document should summarize the information that you research.  It does not have to include pictures and is not a slide presentation.  It does not have to be written in essay form with an introduction, body and conclusion.  It should be at least 1.5 pages in length and can be flexibly longer than that.
  8. Upload your Word document to the final exam assignment in learning module week 16 by Monday Dec. 14.
Criteria for 3 articles that you find and use:
Use secondary sources for your articles.  They may be from Professional News agencies (local, national and international), government agencies or universities.  Please refer to the information below to help you assess the quality of your internet sources.
