Step One: Find a children’s book, read the book, and then think about ( Webbing) what ideas/ concepts from this book could be used to create invitations for children/ learning experiences. (Tip: readings of many children’s books can be found on YouTube.)
Step Two: Create a curriculum web that shows how your selected children’s book/topic can be extended intodifferent learning experiences
This means think of ideas/ topics that are sparked by the content in the children’s books make a list of topics concepts
For Example -Harry The Dirty Dog
Possible concepts/ ideas we can highlight from the book: Hygiene/Bathing – Black/White-Family-Pets
from these topics, think of learning activities/invitations to provide for children
Step Three: Now think of learning activities for the following areas based on the topics/ideas from Step Two.
- Literacy/Numeracy
- Fine Motor
- Social/Emotional
- Science/Nature
- Gross Motor
- Creative Expression.
All of the 6 areas will have at least ONE learning experience, then you can decide where to add the other 4 ideas to make a total of TEN LEARNING ACTIVITIES (10 pts.).
