Then write a short memo (graded) of about 200-350 words. You should provide a brief account of the main argument(s) of the article, plus think and write about how the topic discussed speaks to some or all of these topics:
- How is a school shooting socially constructed?
- Why do school shootings resemble each other so much? (i.e., they seem ordered)
- How much agency do individual shooters exercise?
- Why does nothing much change over time, in terms of policy-making?
- What could we do to remedy this social problem?
Just to be clear, your essay will be submitted through the “Assignments” function in Canvas in a text-entry box. Don’t send it to your instructor as an attachment, and don’t try to upload a Word document. You might find it useful, though, to write your draft in Word and then copy and paste your memo into Assignments.
