Overview
You just took a new position as a portfolio manager. Before you move into working with clients directly, your supervisor wants you to evaluate a portfolio. Your firm has three new clients, and you get the first choice of which client portfolio to select. Your firm has asked you to analyze the clients current portfolio, summarize it, and recommend specific rebalancing options to the client.
Directions
Choose one of the three profiles from the Project One Profiles document found in the Supporting Materials section. Using the Project One Portfolio Calculation Template, also found in the Supporting Materials section, begin your analysis of the portfolio. Then, in a Word document, present a rebalanced portfolio, which is a draft summary of the suggested adjustments to support the analysis for your client.
Part One: For Part One of this milestone, you will do the needed calculations to analyze the clients current portfolio. Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
- Analyze past portfolio performance. Include the following in your response:
- Quantitative assessments from:
- Annual return
- Market return against benchmarks
- Market cycles
- Risk-adjusted return
Part Two: For Part Two of the milestone, you will create a written summary that is supported by appropriate calculations. Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
- Compare portfolio investments to relevant benchmarks. Include the following in your response:
- Correct benchmarks for investments
- Specific data on investments within the portfolio
- Identification of poor-quality investments in relation to each benchmark
What to Submit
This milestone requires one deliverable, a 2- to 3-page Microsoft Word document to support planned adjustments within the future rebalancing of the portfolio. Use 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, and one-inch margins. Sources should be cited according to APA style.
