Task Description: For this task students will be placed in groups of 5 in such a way that each member of the group are to design and submit a detailed plan of one of the 5 major ‘training’ phases of an annual plan (General Preparation, Specific Preparation, Pre-competition, Competition and Transition). The development of this phase is to be grounded in the principles of training. Each student will be provided with their specific training phase by the lecturer, and the planning of the training phase will be based on specific sport and athlete parameters provided by your lecturer. Whilst students are only developing one phase, they need to consider how this may fit in with the other phases of the annual plan. Students will need to draw on knowledge gained from other units they have studied, in particular Strength and Conditioning and Athlete Development. Task Procedure: Students can utilise the Visual Coaching Pro software or present their training phase using a different software application. Regardless of the program used, the training phase should clearly demonstrate the appropriate frequency, duration, volume, intensity, types of activities and progression ofsessions to demonstrate how to develop the relevant attributes of athlete(s) in each phases based on the Needs Analysis. A 400-500 word (1 page) summary is to accompany your portfolio to justify how your sample training phase aims to meet the developmental requirements. Students must use good quality information to inform the development of their macrocycle and enable them to justify the choices they have made. This is integral not only to the academic quality and accuracy of this task, but in enabling students to justify and defend their macrocycle in the following task. As a guideline, students are to produce: – Outline of the training phase in a visual/plan format: oLength of the phase (how many microcycles, macrocycles) oHow many sessions required to provide the appropriate stimulus for adaptation oAre there any competitions or events to consider and incorporate. – Detailed microcycle (all students to do microcycle 1 of their phase) oInclude all sessions that you would plan for a week in your phase oTake into account recommended number of stimuli required for adaptation, appropriate rest between certain types of stimuli, length of sessions etc. – Detailed training sessions for each different type of session planned in the microcycle (i.e. if you plan two gym sessions, you only detail one of them.) oLength of session oTraining load of the session oOutcomes of the session
