You have read about the modernization theory, and the way it was revised by Ronald Inglehart; you looked at the differences in some democracy-relevant attitudes in the Middle East and in the West; and studied Dalton and Welzels theory of value change in modern democracies. The question for the second essay is: How does political science study the politically-relevant values and attitudes and what do we know about their evolution since the end of WWII in the West? Identify the three stages of this process, outline their main features, and illustrate each with brief examples. Reflect also on the forces or mechanisms that lead to the change and values and attitudes.
