These are the requirements of the essay:
- You must define your idea of Americanness that you are going to base yourargument on.
- There is no limit to the maximum number of works you may discuss. However, youmust provide at least two different works from two different class topics. (Course materials included, each Powerpoint/Pohl Reading classifies as it’s own topic.) Outside artworks may be discussed/sourced AS LONG AS THERE ARE TWO WORKS + TWO REFERENCES TO POHL TEXTS FROM CLASS MATERIALS, but in this case, make sure to identify the work (date, present location of thework, etc.,)
- In your essay, make sure you: write the artists full name upon his/ her first appearance in your essay write the title of the work (underline or italicize!), and date of production describe the subject matter of the work.
- Although this is not a research paper, some researchwill be necessary to write your essay, especially regarding the concept ofAmericanness. You must construct a strong, solid argument in your essay. Merely writing adescription of each work does not meet the expected standard of this assignment.
