Following the criteria discussed in class (also in the “3 strong argumentative essay examples, analyzed” PowerPoint) for an effective analysis of an argumentative essay, write an analysis of the attached argumentative essay. The analysis should be (1.5 space, Times New Roman, 12 pt.). Make sure you comment on the following points:
structure of the essay (what the author does where):
- identify the thesis (quote it) and indicate where it’s located, and comment on its effectiveness (both thesis and placement);
- identify arguments for the proposition (thesis) and comment on their effectiveness;
- identify evidence or data the author uses to support her claim and comment on its effectiveness;
- identify counterarguments (that is, arguments against the proposition) and explain how the author responds to these.
- add a final reflection (overall impression)
