You are to research (online) information pertaining to a particular culture/group in the United States and the medical beliefs & practices associated with that culture/group. Choose a topic that interests you. The topic that you choose can be as broad or as narrow as possible. However, I suggest starting broad and narrowing your topic once you begin finding sources. You should avoid medically specialized sources as the aim of your paper is an anthropological examination of beliefs concerning disease causation and treatment.
Where to start:
- Choose a topic and or population that you find interesting. Focus on a population in the United States and find information about health care practices associated with that population.
- You need to have a minimum of 4 sources for your paper. Focus on understanding how illness and treatment are perceived within the population of study. Where applicable, try to make connections between particular cultural practices and the prevalence of particular types of beliefs.
- 3) Provide a 4-5 typed, double-spaced, report of your findings and your analysis.
